Lorraine Kelly Appearing at Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre

8th June 2018, UK - TV presenter and national star Lorraine Kelly will be making an appearance at the Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow, to call upon local residents to support independent businesses in the area.

Yell.com - the UK’s leading business directory are visiting Glasgow as part of a nation-wide tour to encourage the British public to discover and support small local businesses.

A television presenter, journalist, model and actress – Lorraine Kelly is one of Glasgow’s most famous exports. Having started out at as a reporter at East Kilbride News after a family move to the area, Lorraine is now one of the United Kingdom’s best known and loved television personalities, having also been awarded an OBE for her ongoing services to charity and the armed forces.

During Lorraine’s appearance at the Yell stand, there will be a live Q&A where she’ll be calling on the need to embrace small business in Glasgow, detailing what residents can do to help support local trade, in addition to championing her own favourite independent businesses in the area. Following the Q&A, there will be an opportunity for shoppers to meet Lorraine and get her autograph or have a selfie with her.

In advance of the Silverburn shopping centre event, Yell.com has conducted research into the consumer behaviour of those who live in Glasgow. In a revelation that may surprise many, Yell found residents of Glasgow are actually the most likely in the whole of the UK to search online for a psychic. Glaswegians were found to be 65 per cent more likely than residents of any other area of the UK to search online for a psychic or clairvoyant.

On the upcoming event, Lorraine Kelly said: “Encouraging more people to discover the great locally owned businesses in the area is something we all need to get behind.  I remember the Yellow Pages being a constant from a young age, so it’s brilliant to be collaborating with Yell as they transition to a fully online business – and where better to do it than Glasgow. While work has taken me away from Scotland, I always love coming back, seeing old faces and of course visiting some of my Glaswegian favourites, which is what the event is all about!”

Featured at the stand will also be the ‘Just Yell’ booth where shoppers are invited to take part in an exciting competition to see who can yell the loudest out of the people of Glasgow, with the chance to win an Amazon Echo worth £89.99. Shoppers can also get information on a prize draw for the chance to win a range of fun experiences designed to make you Yell, plus a grand prize of £10,000.

Richard Hanscott, CEO of Yell says: “This is the fifth stop on our tour across the UK and we’re delighted to bring our #lovelocal roadshow to Glasgow. Not only to celebrate the great local businesses the city has to offer, but also give them the chance to meet Lorraine Kelly. Together, we’re championing small businesses across the UK, and this is a great way for us to meet local residents and encourage them to shout about the businesses they love.”

The Yell stand will be located in the Silverburn shopping centre, between Debenhams, JD Sports & Jack Wills on Friday 8th June from 9.30am to 8pm and Saturday 9th June from 9am till 7pm. Lorraine Kelly will be making a guest appearance from 12pm – 2.00pm on Friday 8th June.
